Urban Exploration #001 :
Xining Public Housing
西寧國宅
I read in the news that this building is scheduled for demolition in 2026. It’s also infamous for being haunted, residents have reported ghost sightings, and with thirty suicides over the years, it’s no surprise that it gained that reputation.
Knowing this, I had to take photos there before it gets demolished and is gone forever.
I only knew the place because of the market downstairs, where I used to buy electronic components. It might be worth making a page about that market too, as it has a lot of character.
I also took some portraits in the area, it has a vibe that not other place has, and it has red LED signs that can be used as fill lights.
By the time I visited the building it was completely emptied, nobody lives inside anymore, every resident has been relocated before demolition. I believe homeless people might still take shelter in the stairwell, because there are signs of makeshift cardboard beds. It’s full of trash everywhere, I suppose residents left objects behind that they saw as worthless.
