Koo Chen-Fu Memorial Library
辜振甫先生紀念圖書館

Libraries are usually not considered touristic destinations, they’re not commercial as there is no entry ticket or souvenir to buy, they’re seen as something only open to locals and they’re quiet and slow pace.

The Koo Chen-Fu Memorial Library (辜振甫先生紀念圖書館 in Mandarin) — located on the NTU’s campus, isn’t part of any touristic guide or any “hidden gem” list, however I think it has an interesting architecture and that it that deserves to be seen. It’s a university library, and just in case that deters you from visiting, you don’t have to be a student to enter. Anyone can visit, non-nationals included, you only need to provide an ID, ARC/APRC, or your passport at the entrance, and they’ll issue you a visitor pass.

This page is not an in-depth article or a tour guide about the library, just a collection of pictures.

These floor maps indicates that this library has books in both Mandarin and in English (“western language” on the map), so as a foreigner you shouldn’t feel out of place. You can see that the library has tables as study areas, computers, newspaper and magazines, but no media area (like DVD’s), so it’s a fairly standard library.

As you can see on this picture, most shelves are half empty, so it isn’t exactly glorious in that aspect; it’s more of an architectural curiosity than a book haven.
